The following points are a few quick facts on some of the accomplishments of the foundation:

1979

The Islamic Foundation for Culture and Higher Education was founded

1979 - 1980

The Islamic Foundation granted loans to 46 students

1980

Construction was begun on the Kfar Falous Cultural and Medical Complex. It included a university which opened with a Faculty of Industrial Technology and a Faculty of Food and Agricultural Engineering, a school of nursing, a model school for all levels, the Hariri Medical Center, a power station, a residential complex, a vocational school and a sports complex.

1980 - 1981

The number of loan recipients increased to 112 students.

1982

The New Sidon School was founded as part of the Kfar Falous Complex. After the events in eastern Sidon in 1985 a new group of schools was built in Sidon proper. By 1989 - 1990 there were 1,300 students.

1982 - 1983

In the afternoon of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, Oger Liban played a major role in reconstructing damaged areas and removing rubble.

1983

Kfar Falous completed 100,000 square meters of constructed area. The cost of building and equipping the Complex reached US$300 million by 1985.

1983

Mr. Rafik Al-Hariri established the Hariri Foundation which worked out of the representative office of the Islamic Foundation.

1984

The French Mission Laique was forced to close its school, Lycee Abdel Kader, and the Hariri Foundation bought the buildings and took over its management. In 1989 - 1990 the school had an enrollment of 951.

1984

The Najd National Schools opened in Riyadh. By 1990 1,985 students were enrolled.

1984

At the start of the year, 300 Hariri Foundation loans had been granted. By the end of the year, the number had risen to 6,000.

1984 - 1988

During this period 8,655 students attended language programs in Lebanon, the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom and France.

1985 - 1986

Hariri Foundation students at universities worldwide numbered 8,183.

1986

After the Syrian Anglican Mission closed its school in Beirut, the Hariri Foundation purchased the buldings and took over its management. The school had 1,253 students in 1989 - 1990.

1986 - 1987

The number of university students totaled 16,355.

1987

The Naziq Al-Hariri Center for Special Education was founded in Amman. In 1990 the center had 171 students.

1987 - 1988

Hariri Foundation loan students attending universities totaled 12,623 with 1,951 graduating.

1988 - 1989

Total number of students rose to 14,254 with 1,144 of them graduating.

1989 - 1990

The total number of Hariri Foundation loan students reached 14,655. they attended 957 universities and institutes in 23 countries, with 5016 students graduating.
